Our Mission in Colin Family Mediation Group
Our primary mission is to help families solve problems privately, peacefully, and constructively. Most family problems are best solved by members of the family, perhaps with support services from professionals such as mediators and therapists. A courtroom is an awful place for resolving a family matter.
We help people with a wide variety of topics and goals. These include:
-
- prenuptial agreements
- postnuptial agreements
- how to manage the family’s budget
- separation
- divorce
- alimony
- child support
- co-parenting schedules for unwed parents
- reconciliation agreements
- elder care decisions
- inheritance disputes
- family business succession
Colin Family Mediation Group also has a second mission. We want to educate the world about the existence and value of family mediation. Some people still do not know that family mediation exists. Far too many people do not know how many things professional family mediators can help with. Especially in cases of divorce, far too many people, including children of all ages, suffer unnecessary anguish and trauma because people do not know what family mediators can do. All over the U.S.A. and in most parts of the world, family mediators can help people make their decisions, put them in writing, and make adversarial litigation completely unnecessary.
Family mediation is private and confidential. Mediators are required to be impartial. Our role is to help people negotiate constructively and create solutions that work for them in their unique circumstances. Isn’t that the best way to resolve family problems?
Mediation services are available in Springfield, Fairfax, Alexandria, elsewhere in Virginia, and by Zoom.
